GOLD PERFORMANCE FOR SIMONCongratulations to 18-year-old pupil Si Lennon who received world media coverage (including his photo in the Daily Mail) when he took part in the Olympic Opening ceremonies alongside other National Youth Theatre members.
He said : "The whole experience was just the best thing ever! We spent the first 3 weeks choreographing the show and after a week's rehearsals we started the welcoming ceremonies. We did two shows each day welcoming such countries as Somalia, Columbia, Liberia and Tajikistan. The performances were full of colour and energy and were amazing! I was trained on power propelled stilts which allowed me to jump in the air and I used them for half of the performance. We have been all over the media - all over the world. If I ever visit South Korea and Japan I might get recognised as I also did interviews about the olympics and my NYT experience with journalists from both those countries! It was honestly the most fun I've ever had!"
Simon's exciting opportunities are continuing with the NYT. He has just been chosen as one of 12 actors from the whole of the NYT membership to take part in a research and development collaboration between the NYT and the Bristol Old Viv. He will be working on a new play devised from the novel 'Pigeon English'.
